Ah
Yantra Yoga Retreat with Lynn Sutherland
Chicago, Illinois
August 11-13, 2006

The Yantra Yoga system of Vairocana is one of the most ancient systems of yoga in the Tibetan tradition. This direct, unbroken oral lineage of Yantra Yoga called Nyida Khajor, or The Union of Sun and Moon, was first recorded in the 8th century text by Vairocana and was introduced to the West by Choegyal Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche.

Yantra Yoga is a dynamic system of yoga that integrates body, voice and mind through breathing and movement. In this retreat we will focus on the First Series of the Main Practice, which is comprised of pranayama (breathing practice) and yantras (movements). We will also review and practice the Preliminary Practices (9 Breathings, Tsigjong, Lungsang, Tsadul). Emphasis will be on cultivating presence and awareness while developing and deepening our understanding and experience of the breath, both within the yantras and the pranayamas.

This course is for practitioners who have transmission from Choegyal Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche and have previously had a course in the Preliminary Practices.
